Best night in a hammock to date

This isn't my first hammock or even my first of this style. I bought my kids Nightcat, but they advertised there's as a ground tent and a hammock, but their bottom isn't waterproof, the Hawknest is. You know add are usually embellished, well Hawknests aren't. It's just like they say in their ads. They looked at the nightcat hammock tent, and did it better in every way. Better materials, better QC, no false advertising, slightly improved design. The best part for me, is it's a Canadian company I'm supporting, a Canadian owned and operated company with Canadian employees. If i can support local, I do, if I can support local AND get a superior product, that's a no brainer. My son and I are headed out next week, Aug 25th for the opening of bow only hunting where we live. He's bringing his NC, I'm bringing my HN. We're going to trade back and forth and make a list of all we like about both, and any improvements, (if any) for the HN. While I do kinda dig the retro 80's inspired design, I do wish there was a stealthy option available.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review Michael! So happy to hear that you are happy with your hammock :) I really do appreciate you supporting Canadian. AND you will be happy to know I have a deep forest green coming in stock in mid October. I will have some extra rain flys of the new color you can grab if you are keen on the green! Thanks again and happy hammocking!

Best sleep in the backcountry in a long time

Just recently spent my first night in my Hawk Nest and it was very comfy and easy to set up. One of the best things was waking up and realizing I was still on top of my mattress!!
Best sleep I have had in the backcountry in a long time.

That is what we like to hear! Thank you so much for the review :) I could not be happier to hear it is the best sleep you have had in a long time! That is our goal!

Great hammock, friends are jealous

Just had my Hawk v3 out to the NB backcountry for a music festival weekend. It was easy to set up, stayed clean since it was up out of the dirt. Friends and neighbours were jealous that they wouldn't be up off the lumpy ground. The only issue I had was that there is no room for luggage like a conventional tent so I had to pack tarps and ropes to protect my stuff from weather and change clothes behind since I drove out on a motorcycle. Definitely not the hammock's fault. It was hot and dry this past weekend but the weekend before I was sleeping during a thunderstorm and stayed dry in the rain. On another note, I'm 6'3" 275lb and over 40 and slept like a baby in the spacious, screened off tent space.

So happy to hear it Nigel! Looks like you could probably use the Shelter Pro rain fly I have coming out to give you extra coverage and some space to store your gear! You will be able to hang large gear or packs on the tree straps of your hammock to keep it off the ground and the larger tarp will keep everything dry and give you much more covered livable space :D Thanks again and happy hammocking!

My new favourite camping companion

I received my Hawk Nest hammock tent recently and have used it on two overnight kayak trips. This lightweight hammock was easy to set up (first time took a bit longer) and in no time I was enjoying the feeling of weightlessness as I gently rocked to sleep with the warm ocean breeze. In a normal tent I usually wake up many times, but in this hammock tent I only woke up once when nature called. I can truly say this will be my go to for all my kayak, biking, and backcountry camping trips.
As far as comfort, I’m 6’-5” and I had plenty of room and slept very comfortably.
The hooks on the ceiling were great for hanging a light, and there was 4 pockets inside as well for small items.
Great hammock and I’m looking forward to using it all year round!

Thank you Greg! So happy to hear you are happy with your Hawk Nest :) It means so much that you can share your thoughts with others who are interested in joining the hammock club! Great to know you still have plenty of room for 6' 5'! Wishing you all the best

Hawk nest hammocks

Been using the latest version v3 for a little over a month now. It’s been on multi day hikes, paddle boarding adventures, river days and even just set up in the backyard. We have used as a double person with a combined weight of 345lbs with zero issues. Unmatched quality and comfort with super simple to set up or disassemble. Fits perfectly in my pack and weighing in at 5 pounds and the compact size makes it perfect for all adventures and lets not forget the amazing customer service Highly recommend this product and excited to see what this company brings to the market in the future. Take care and Happy trekking everyone

Amazing! Thank you so much for sharing Dave and it really means a lot that you attached some photos as well :) It has been such a pleasure serving you and heres to many years of happy hammocking!

V.3 Hawk Nest™ All-Season Hammock Tent

R
Rusty Goat (Regina, SK)
Hawk Nest Hammock: Rusty Goat review

The hammock was a total experiment initiated by one of the guys I go on canoe trips with who can fall asleep faster than anyone else in the tent and immediately break into a chorus of snoring. The online search showed the hammock met the criteria of being light weight, easy to set up and comfortable. For our needs, it had to be comfortable for myself or the camp snorer as solitude and distance can make for a pleasant backcountry sleep.
To test the hammock, I picked two trees on a slope in the bush behind our house, a place where a tent could never go. I took the set up very serious in that I watched a the setup video and even read the instructions! This novel approach seemed to work as the hammock went up easily and to my untrained eye, looked as it should. My first time ever sleeping in a hammock and I’ll give it an 8 out of 10. Points were deducted because the moron who set it up, had the feet slightly lower, such that I had a tendency to slid that direction. My technical difficulties aside, I had a great nights sleep. It took some manoeuvring to find which position was best suited for hammock sleeping, having never done it before but I was as even able to sleep on my side.
The second test was during our family canoe trip down the South Saskatchewan River with its many sand bars and beaches. Large trees were few on the islands we camped on but the hammocks ability to be set up on the ground was a game changer. I found the inside dimensions were slightly smaller when on the ground but sleeping on the flat sand was fantastic. Once again, set up and take down were easy and like with the elevated set up, the zippers worked flawlessly.

I’m very happy with the Hawk Nest hammock after these initial tests and it will be coming on future canoe trips.

Thank you so much for the thoughtful review! This is an incredibly helpful and I am so happy to hear it is checking all the boxes for you :) I am considering making or adding two small straps with two grommet holes in the ends to be used when setting up on the ground to pull the support poles together giving you better interior height so it is not dependant on how tight you can stake the ends! Thanks again for the thoughtful reply and all input is very helpful in improving my products!

Corrected comfort.

Quickly received the replacement order error. Unit is solid. 6'4" 300lb human in total comfort. Swinging in the breeze. Safe from mosquitoes. Under the trees in total comfort. 9.7/10. Highly Recommend!! Would buy more.

Thank you Rob! I am so very happy to hear you are happy with your Hawk Nest. If you ever need anything I am always available! Happy hammocking :)
