So far so good!

I haven't really tried hammocks much in the past, but was interested in giving it a go. I figured that it will be used a fair bit anyway between me and my 12 year old son, so I did t mind paying the price for it.

Unfortunately, being in eastern Ontario (Kawarthas), we haven't really had the weather to try it outside yet (and now after the ice storm, finding two safe trees reasonably close together is a bit of a challenge). I borrowed a friend's hammock frame to test it out in my living room... Here's what I found (though it would probably be better outside, since the frame was just a tiny bit small)

The setup was easy. No issues there at all.

Once inside it, I found it nice and spacious. Very comfortable. While I am not claustrophobic, I am not overly comfortable in confined spaces, and I had no issues here.

The sleeping mat fits fine in the pocket under the hammock. However, it's rather noisy when you move around, even a bit. I may see if a sheet would help that between the mat and the fabric, although this may add a bit of weight...

I also noticed that the mat would stick out a bit at one end (after my son was in there and he moves around quite a bit.). This concerns me a bit as I would hate for that to happen if it's raining and a bit windy, blowing water in there... Hawk Nest, I wonder if maybe putting a couple of snaps on the openings of the pocket would eliminate this possibility?

Our next Scout camp is scheduled in May, so I am looking forward to being able to really test this hammock out.

Hi Cara! Thank you so much for the thoughtful review and all of your insights. I am aware that it can be a little noisy with the pad in the pocket and was looking at an early design of the sleeping pad with a felt fabric that would cause very little noise but unfortunately just the pad weighed nearly 4lbs which was unreasonable. Also, as for the openings in the pocket, this is good to know that you would like them closed or to be able to be closed. I am looking at options for my V.3 and hope to have some updates soon :) Thanks again for the review and support. I look forward to hearing about your future adventures once the weather warms up!

Quality & Design

It's a very solid build and great design. Haven't been able to use it yet, another couple months for suitable camping weather, but very excited to give it a go!

Best item in my go bag!

The Hawk Nest Hammock has become an essential part of my search and rescue gear. It’s always in my go bag, ready for quick and easy setup after long hours in the field. Packing it up is just as simple, and it’s surprisingly comfortable—even after exhausting missions in all weather conditions. I’m currently waiting on my mattress to make it even better, but so far, it’s been a game-changer for getting the proper rest I need. Highly recommended for anyone needing reliable, packable comfort in the outdoors.

Will send comments on the mattress once it arrives. I only ordered it yesterday. More pics to come

You are the man Michael! Thank you so much for your service and I am so very happy to hear that it can help make your time in the field a but more enjoyable. Looking forward to hearing your thoughts on the pad. I am very happy to have you on board, happy hammocking!

Can't complain love IT

Cozy for the winter

Stayed warm and comfortable all night in -6C snowy conditions. The design completely cuts the wind while leaving ample ventilation. Also, only needing two attachment points for the hammock and fly together is such a game-changer. No more searching for the elusive "perfect" set of trees to tie up 6+ lines. Setup & takedown is a breeze (5 min), even in the snow, as no part ever needs to touch the ground if you do it right (watch the very helpful tutorial video on YouTube for the proper technique).

Thank you very much for the review Graham! Way to go for getting out there in 6 below! I am thinking of adding a couple easier elastic tie towns if you want some extra stability in heavy winds. Appreciate the thoughtful reply! Happy Hammocking!

Awesome hammock tent

I seen the adds on fb and after looking at some reviews I decided to get one. Tried it out in the middle of the winter. It was fast and easy to setup and tear down. I wanted something that would be off the ground and lightweight for winter use.

Thank you for the review Mathew! Props to you for testing it out in the middle of winter! Hopefully you will have some warmer camps coming up :)

Game changer

This past weekend I was able to use my new hawk nest hammock and couldn’t be happier. I’ve been learning and practicing survival skills and techniques for about two years now and the hawk nest has made winter overnight trips way more comfortable. At 55 almost 56 years old let me tell you that sleeping on the ground even with a pad or debris bed just doesn’t make for a good night’s rest. The hawk nest performs just as it says it will. From 15 degrees one night to ice and snow storm the next. I’m sure the more I use it the more comfortable I will be. Great hammock and I look forward to my next adventure with it.

Very cool to hear your out practising survival skills in the middle of winter! Thanks so much for the review and I am looking forward to hearing about your next adventures!

Sleeping in the Air

Initially decided to try a Hawk Nest hammock based on research and reviews as well as the return policy.
Received the first hammock and because it is winter have not spent a night in it yet; we do not winter camp.
After watching the instructional video we did venture out to give it a try. The video was spot on and we had it set up in 7 minutes and taken down/ packed away in less than 5. The lightweight design will be ideal for backpacking.
We were so impressed by the product quality, design and comfort we ordered a second one. Our communication with Lucas had been excellent as i messed up my second order and his attention and assist was far more than I expected, thank you again.
After we have had a chance to officially use our hammocks I will update it provide another review. We cannot wait to give them a try during our planned hiking and back country canoe adventures.

Thank you so so much for the thoughtful review and for all of your support! It has been such a pleasure serving you and I can not wait to hear all about your upcoming camping trips! I am looking at bringing in a new under quilt for next winter season so if you do want to give winter camping a try, that will be the time :) Thanks again and happy camping!
